Your partner in energy and climate in Central Sweden

Our goal is to contribute to fulfil the region's climate and energy vision which states that we should be independent of oil and other fossil fuels and that we should use energy efficiently everywhere in the society by the year 2030. At the same time while changing our energy system we want our businesses to grow and create jobs.

What we do

Strategic energy and environmental work
We´re participating in the work with the national environmental quality targets and national objectives and the Growth Programme for the Economic Development of the Örebro Region. We have also developed climate strategies for both individual communities and the wider region.

Örebro Regional Development Council have received funding from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency for a Climate Investment Programme. This ranges from building low energy houses to switch to energy efficient street lighting in the municipalities and give energy advice toenterprises. The Energy Agency co-ordinates all the climate investments and ensure their implementations. As a regional energy agency, we also have a mandate from the Swedish Energy Agency to be a regional energy player and be the region's expertise in energy.

Projects
We´re coordinators and participators in local, regional, national and international projects. The projects varies from energy-efficient construction and lighting to sustainable transportation. We have worked with manufacturing industries, property owners, homeowners, housing associations and schools. We often deal with information campaignes and awereness raising and we carry out assignments and reports for various actors.

Network
We work in networks in order to gather the region and share knowledge and experience. Right now, we have one network for energy and climate advisors and climate strategists, one network for real estate and one network for bioenergy. We develop new networks based on the needs of the region.

Education
We arrange courses and conferences and tailor energy and climate studies. Some examples are wind power training courses for farmers, seminars on energy efficient lighting and conferences for companies that want to be more energy efficient.

Visit Energicentrum
Enterprisers and consumers are very welcome to Energicentrum at Marieberg's shopping center outside Örebro that we run with the local energy and climate advisory service in the municipalities. Energicentrum provides free and impartial advice. There is also a major exhibition showing energy solutions from the market.

We are a part of something bigger
There are currently 350 local or regional energy agencies in Europe which of 13 are from Sweden. The Swedish energy agencies are working together in The Association of Swedish Regional Energy Agencies.

We have no profit motive
Örebro County Energy Agency is part of Örebro Regional Development Council. We´re not tied to any company or other commercial players and have no beneficial interest. We are funded primarily by the Örebro Regional Development Council and through external projects from, for example, the Swedish Energy Agency
